Here is the newest update regarding the Shut the Duck Up! campaign.

Shut the Duck Up! is a running campaign to quiet down those annoying Duck Tours that literally ruin the beautiful nostalgia in Philadelphia. On April 4th at 10 am, our campaign efforts will be shown through a large protest at the Philadelphia Ride the Duck Tours Penn’s Landing water entrance (Where Race Street meets the water).

Over the past few months the local Philadelphia community has positively responded with arms wide open. In addition to the public and community, the local media has shown an enormous amount of support. Our petition has received over 100 signatures, and since the release of the Shut the Duck Up! Documentary video on YouTube, there has been over 2700 views.

If you would like to join us in our fight to preserve our beautiful city of Philadelphia, and send those ducks back to their pond, please attend the Shut the Duck Up! protest. We will be standing strong and demanding hard so that this mission can be considered a success.

The Shut the Duck UP! video has finally been finished! Two Drexel Students worked on it and the video has now been placed on YouTube for all to see. Watch as campaign leader Walt Sherman crushes quackers, protests on the streets, and actually experiences what it's like to ride the Duck Boats!

Hey All! Walt Sherman Here. i have a big campaign against the Philadelphia Duck Boats that I'm running. The Duck Boats are loud, obnoxious, polluting, and disrespectful to Philadelphia residents!! I call the campaign Shut the Duck UP! I have a blog(www.shuttheduckup.blogspot.com) that keeps track of everything I'm doing for the campaign and we also have an online petition(www.thepetitionsite.com/1/shut-the-duck-up) that you can sign to show your support! Here is what the petition says:

We the undersigned do hereby call for respect from the Philadelphia Ride the Ducks Tour Company. The Ride the Ducks Tours are loud, noisy, obnoxious and an ear sore to local citizens of the Philadelphia area. By blasting music, shouting over a loud PA system, and encouraging the tooting of “quackers,” the Ride the Ducks Tours consistently disrupt the life of the average Philadelphian and are violating a number of noise pollution laws. We ask for Ride the Ducks Tours to work for a better relationship with Philadelphia residents and by agreeing to three guidelines:

1) When driving through a residential area, Ride The Ducks Tours will respectfully lower their music, exhibit a more restrained use of the PA system, and encourage a more mindful use of “quackers.”

2) Ride the Ducks Tours will revise their tour routes of Philadelphia to minimize exposure to the residential community.

3) Ride the Ducks Tour guides will no longer encourage tourists to “quack” at individuals on the street.

We hope that Ride the Ducks Tours aspires to have a better relationship with the citizens of Philadelphia, and will thus respect the wishes of the undersigned. By following these basic guidelines, we know that Philadelphia residents and Ride the Ducks Tours can peacefully co-exist in the great city of brotherly love.
