I have wanted to be an organizer pretty much my whole life. Starting with local neighborhood issues in West Philly when I was 15, I have had a chance to pursue my life’s passion. I also love Philadelphia (crazy, obsessive, stalker love). And, I hate money-grubbing souless Republicans.
So, when I started to think about how important the 2006 race to beat Rick Santorum would be, and what a crucial role Philadelphia itself would play, and how much damage Santorum and his cronies have done to our city, well I decided to do whatever I could to organize Philadelphia to help defeating Santorum and his radical right-wing agenda.
That's why I have started a campaign called Philadelphians Against Santorum to turn out 100,000 new and infrequent Philadelphia voters to kick Santorum's ass in the fall election.

vote Pennacchio
It's more than 'just beating Santorum' it's about getting behind someone you really believe in. look how well 'anyone but Bush' worked in 2004 across our country. Chuck Pennacchio is the Progressive Democrat in the race with an incredible grassroots presence all across PA already and real Progressive views on the issues.
A quick recap on Dr. Pennacchio's stances some important issues to me [and I'm sure many others]:
*pro choice
*pro universal healthcare
*pro living wage
*anti war and pro troop withdrawal with a timeline
*anti political action committee money - all his money comes from individual donors
*pro child safety locks - even the NRA wants these
*pro environment
it is petition season right now to get Chuck on the PA ballot for the Democratic primary [May 16]. if you're a registered Democrat, please sign the petition. you can only sign for one candidate, but this is not a pledge of any sorts to vote for that candidate, but merely agreeing that s/he should be on the ballot come the primary.
Well, I am fine with Chuck
Well, I am fine with Chuck running. But he is not going to win, or even come close to it. That may suck for progressives, but it is the reality we are living in.
Ray wants to help create a progressive infrastructure so that we will have more power when non-progressive candidates run. And, he wants to unite everyone, and is staying out of the primary fight for that reason.
Thanks for all of your help
Thanks for all of your help Dan through the months in helping a true Progressive candiate. Please don't forget to come over to Booman and bash Pennacchio some more.
Me, I'll continue to volunteer for someone I truly believe in. You, you continue to bash someone with whom your views align most.
Fucking Christ, Albert. Way
Fucking Christ, Albert. Way to understand that sometimes people can disagree, huh? I guess because I am a progressive, I have to back whatever candidate you, as a progressive, decide I should, eh? So, now that you have told me how to vote, can you let me know where I should work this summer? I want to work in a public interest place, but, I want to make sure it does not offend your sensibilities.
Is "bashing" Chuck saying that he is down by 65 points in the polls, has little money and less chance? If so, then yeah, I am bashing him I guess.
I have asked you this question, and you have never answered: If you were running for the Senate, should you expect me to support you? You stand for everything I do, right? So, would you expect to be taken seriously, if you ran?
Chuck is going to lose, huge. He has not influenced Casey one bit. So, what do I do, as a progressive (though, you know, maybe you can tell me otherwise, since you are the dispenser of all that is progressive)?
I work to make sure that does not happen again, and in the finite time I have in my life, I do something that I feel is making a difference. Sorry you do not approve.
Fuckity fuck fuck Dan. I
Fuckity fuck fuck Dan. I understand that you disagree, but not why. I don't think that you shoudl back whatever candidate I do, but it befuddles me why you incessantly bash Chuck at every opportunity. And I don't understand why you don't back his candidacy. Not because simply you're a Progressive, but that he stands for things you do, isn't that what it's all about? I don't give a fuck who the fuck you work for. I'm going to do something I want to do this summer, will you be on my blog bitching about it? I don't want to mess up your precious schedule.
Bashing Chuck is taking every opportunity to bitch instead of rolling up your sleeves and digging in and helping out. But fuck that, you don't want to help, you want to bitch. So go ahead and bitch.
I don't remember you asking the question, but I'm sure you asked it in a long comment and I missed it. If I had a grassroots network in place across the state, experience on the Hill, a relevant professional/educational history, passion, experience running other senate campaigns and was running against a disgusting political candidate [take your pick on whether that candidate is Casey or Sen. Man on Dog], I think I'd appreciate your help. Running for Senate is no joke. It's a serious thing and it should be taken seriously.
Who the fuck said that I was the fucking dispenser for all that is fucking progressive? Jeez Dan. All I said was that Chuck was the real Progressive Democrat in the race here, do you disagree? Would you call Casey the real Progressive candidate? If so, then we do disagree on that and I can agree to disagree, but I'll think you're wrong.
So fucking sorry that you don't approve of what I'm doing Dan, something that I feel is making a difference.
What do you mean disagree?
What do you mean disagree? Disagree that I should spend time backing Chuck? Well, how about the fact that I think someone who would not win a seat on Philadelphia City Council is leading his supporters down a path of a 70 or 80 point loss? I choose to fight battles where I can make a difference, I do not see that here.
And this?
You are a nice guy, but, you know jack shit about what I do with my life, so, while I appreciate that I should be "digging in," I have other things that I do, and my life is too busy helping someone who I do not consider a serious candidate.
And again, is bashing him stating the obvious? We are the reality-based community, right? Should I pretend something that is utterly and totally false?
Building a progressive infrastructure is hard work. You can't just skip to the top, and expect it to magically work out. Even if it is well intentioned, all it leads us to is big, lopsided losses, like the one that is going to happen in May.
Disagree in who you think
Disagree in who you think the Progressive candidate in this race is.
I don't know jack shit about what you do with you life, but I do see you constantly saying things and then sitting around and not help change things. So sorry if you are to be disturbed from sitting in your high and mighty throne about a candidate you do not consider serious. Bashing him is not stating facts. Facts are facts. Fact, Pennacchio leads all candidates in the race when people know the candidates' stances on the issues. I'm helping Chuck's name recognition to up the head to head numbers because, head to head, Chuck wins on the issues. I'm not saying that what you stated was false.
Building a statewide grassroots network is hard work. Chuck has been at it for two years now. He's not trying to "skip to the top" as you say. He's been hard at work. Someone who is trying to skip to the top is Lynn Swann.
