Michael Andrew's 'niceart' Corporation

Michael Andrew is as much of a mystery as his art corporation, or should I say corporation artist. There's a new permanent display inside the Hahnemann Library on 15th and Vine. At first glance it seems too simple, like a character in a Daniel Clowes story: an artist who paints words - except these words are different. These are positive words, and they're never repeated. They use the Arial computer font exclusively, and they just float - if you look at them long enough the meaning disappears utterly, but you remember the word for a long time, and it feels ...nice. There's also a little number on the side of each painting, because there's much more at work here. What looks at first to be simple mass-produced white rectangles with words printed on them are actually hand-made paintings with black wax letters. The Niceart Corporation is in fact a real corporation. I checked, it's real. Who Michael Andrew is or where he's from I have no idea, but I have a feeling we have our next Warhol or Kostabi on the way. Oh yes, one more thing; the paintings are cheap and the shipping is free. I bought one and it's marvelous. I highly recommend you buy one too. Do a google search for "niceart" or go to "iheartniceart" dot com. You can't miss them!
